The NEW Tesla Model 3 (2021)

I drive the latest Model 3 for a month.

Tesla is a manufacturer that rarely stands still

Since I bought Christine, my 2020 Model 3 Long Range, Tesla have delivered a 5% performance boost, a large number of new autopilot (driver assistance) features and increased winter range via software battery optimisations. It's been the most expensive thing I've ever bought but it's also improved over time in a way it feels like it's growing up!

But it's not just the software that improves over time but the hardware too.

Last month someone crashed into my Tesla Model 3 and while it was away for repairs I've been driving this - the latest version.

The review video

This week Tesla passed the million cars manufacturered per year milestone, Hertz ordered 100,000 Teslas for their rental fleet and the $TSLA share price broke new highs at $900 and then $1,000 per share, giving Tesla a one trillion dollar market cap. This is (literally) huge.

It isn't just an expensive toy

The UK now aiming to ban all petrol and diesel cars by 2035 (not just the registration of new ones by 2030) and other countries around the world are surely going to follow with their own dates. Electric vehicles capital cost is high but is coming down rapidly and we are at the point where an electric vehicle is cheaper to produce than a petrol one in many cases. The new electric vehicles you see on the roads now will be nearly new second hand vehicles in coming years.

Thanks to Anthony and Nathan at Novo Insurance for handling my insurance claim and for supplying this Tesla Model 3 LR loan car as a courtesy car while my own Model 3 LR was in the garage.
