Manx Radio Interview

I was invited onto Manx Radio to discuss the IPCC's latest report and also what we are doing to mitigate climate change - or can do - on the island.

Climate Change affects us all and is about to get a lot worse. Mike, the Diving Developer lives on the Isle of Man, a small island in the middle of the Irish Sea somewhere between England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. We're one of the world's tiniest island nations.

The Isle of Man has committed to carbon net-zero by 2050. We've got a long way to go as we burn a lot of fossil fuel on the island for both our power and waste plants as well as during some of our popular tourist events. Our island diet generally leans heavily on animal agriculture and we have little to no incentives to transition to cleaner lifestyles.

We have a Citizens Forum on Climate Change on the island which is made up of 36 representative members of society. 12 from the electoral roll, 12 stakeholders and 12 applicants. I am the representative for small businesses of which we have over a thousand on the island. (We are a very entrepreneurial community!).

I was invited onto Manx Radio to discuss the IPCC's latest report and also what we are doing to mitigate climate change - or can do - on the island.
